Our Household's Diary

This page will take on a "diary" look as Mumma provides updates to the life and times of our household members, especially US.  Hope you enjoy Mumma's babble.  This info is especially for dog lovers, family and friends in Canada who we don't get to see often and miss very much, and our online friends who we never seem to see online anymore!...  :(  (chronology of the diary is date descending)

May 18... Today Ben and Jake's Home Page went online!  yippeeee!  So far, so good... it's amazing how much time a person can spend working on all of this.  My own home page is suffering from neglect at the moment as this site has taken a bit of priority for me.  I still have a house to take care of too!  For those of you looking for new recipes, please be patient as y'all always are.  I promise I'll get some new ones up as soon as I can.  I want everyone to see our boys though, so it's worth it!  I will be adding more pics and other doggie stuff (I hope!) as Ben and Jake let me know what they want added to "their" home page.  Stay tuned!  Don't forget to sign their guestbook eh?  :)  As for Ben and Jake, they are doing just great.  Jake has grown so fast it's unreal.  He's almost as big as Ben already and probably weighs as much.  I think he'll be larger than Ben for sure.  They get along wonderful now and play every chance we let them.  They love it outside and run and wrestle all the time.  Jake is pretty well trained now.  We do have to watch him and time him to avoid accidents, but overall he's doing great.  He understands he needs to do it outside now.  Whew!  Thank Goodness!  hehehe  Jake has one floppy ear that I'm obsessed with.  Wayne says to let it go, it's no biggie, but I've taken some of the advice I've learned from the Yorkie webring about Yorkie floppy ears and am applying it each day, so we'll see.  We will never "show" our boys anyway, so it really is not a big deal.  One puppy ear forever might be kinda cute anyway... :)  We got Jake as a pet and buddy, not a show dog, and Ben... well Ben could never be part of a dog show cuz he thinks he's a people anyway!

April 24.... Pets.. ya gotta love em eh?  The past two weeks have been okay, but two trips to the vet later (and approx. $150 later...grrrr), the boys have all the shots they need (Jake, new puppy shots / Ben needed his updates).  Ole Ben was having a bit of a problem controlling himself in the house, which for him was very unusal.  We thought maybe it was "new puppy in the house insecurity", but after the visit to his vet, we discovered he somehow contracted some parasites in his intestines.  Poor baby!  After a shot to give him a quick start on getting him well, followed by a prescription for tablets, he is back to normal, thank goodness.  Believe it or not, the vet said he could have gotten that bug from either bird droppings, or eating a cricket of all things!  He'd also been getting into Jake's food and that change alone could have done it the vet said.  Ben was such a good boy at the vet's office.  Sorta tough on the doggie's dignity when they start looking in places where he'd definitely rather not have anyone look!  sheesh!

Anyway, the "boys" are becoming fast friends.  They are soooo darned cute together.  I took a picture of them the other day that I will get up on here as soon as we get our new scanner (it's on backorder!) and as soon as I get the film developed of course.... but... if this pic comes out as cute as it looked in my viewfinder, it's definitely a winner.  I have some close ups of them individually too.  Wayne has a wonderful Minolta camera with several lenses I get to play with.  My own Canon hasn't been working properly for a couple of years now (should get it repaired eh?), so I've been away from photography for awhile.  It's been fun taking pics of the dogs and I've been out in the backyard and neighborhood taking some shots as well.  I can't wait to see them all and I hope I'm not disappointed!  95% of photography is luck I think.  You can take 30 pics and if you're lucky, you'll get one good photograph.  Anyway,  once I get the scanner and the pics, I will start a new Photo Album page.  I'll start taking some also of Oklahoma City and Oklahoma in general, so y'all can see what this area looks like.  It's quite different from my old stomping grounds up in the northeast.  AND MUCH WARMER TOO!  :)

April 5..  .We had to leave our babies for a week with friends while we travelled.  No one told me having "kids" would be so hard as far as leaving 'em goes.. :( Although we had a wonderful time in San Antonio, it was good to get home to the boys!  Ben and Jake are getting along famously now.  Pic to come soon! We weren't too sure about Ben when Jake arrived.  Ben avoided him like the plague.  Now they wrestle and fight over the "ball in the sock".  I think Jake is great for Ben.  I always tried to get Ben to pull and play with a rope, but he never would.  Now he does it all the time with Jake.  Oh yeah.. Jake is still peeing on the rug.. grrrrrr!

March 26...  Jake is adjusting pretty well as are we.  The little guy keeps peeing on the rug, but he's now getting the idea that he's supposed to do it in the backyard.  Ole Ben is a great teacher!  :)

March 18...  We have a new addition to our little family.  A six-week old Yorkie pup named Jake.  This should be fun...
